WiiWare Dr. Mario Costs 1000 Wii Points

The Wii Virtual Console is a great thing filled with all sorts of retro goodness, but we were also told that a good variety of WiiWare games would also become available to us at some point. In addition to the various Channels that we have been downloading -- Nintendo Channel launched today, by the way -- it seems like we're finally going to get our hands on some WiiWare games too.

One of the first is Dr. Mario and the WiiWare version of the retro virus-killing puzzle game will cost a cool 1000 Wii Points. That's ten bucks. Thought about in a different way, that's twice as much as how much an NES game would cost on the Virtual Console. Wait... wasn't Dr. Mario an NES title?

Is Nintendo ripping us off or will the WiiWare Dr. Mario bring something incredible to the picture? Online multiplayer, perhaps? I just hope I don't get schooled by someone as good as the person shown in the video above.
