Wii Music Set to Launch October 16

wiimusic-japan.jpg

Rock Band and Guitar Hero are already pretty popular on the Nintendo Wii and Samba de Amigo could be a lot of fun too. You knew that Nintendo was going to cash in on our recent fascination with music and rhythm games, but we didn't know that they'd be able to produce a new title so soon.

Wii Music was announced during the Nintendo press conference at E3 earlier this month and now it seems that the rhythm game will be ready for retailers as early as October 16th. I should note, however, that this rumored launch date is for the land of the rising sun only. As is usually the case, the rest of the world will be a little late to the release party, though no word has leaked out about a Canadian launch date.

The key advantage that Wii Music has over some of its rhythm game compatriots is that it does not require any additional accessories or peripherals. Gameplay is done completely through the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. Thank goodness. I don't know what I'm going to do with all these guitars and drum sets crowding my living room.
