Virtual Console Gets Shot Up with Metal Slug 2

metalslug2.jpg

You can find a lot of utterly fantastic games on the Wii Virtual Console. Junkies of the fighting game genre can get their fix through Samurai Shodown and Street Fighter II. Platform fans can jump on goombas with any number of Mario games. What about enthusiasts of the side-scrolling shoot-em-up? NIntendo's got at least one of those for you too.

The latest addition to the Wii Virtual Console library is Metal Slug 2, the incredibly famous and popular shooter that was originally released on the Neo-Geo. It follows in the success of the first Metal Slug and both games borrow heavy inspiration from Contra. That's a good thing, but the Metal Slug franchise adds in some of its own special flavor too. Like riding in tanks.

The going price for Metal Slug 2 on the VC is 900 Wii Points, the same price as any other Neo-Geo title. This is pretty expensive though, especially when you consider that you can easily find a used copy of Metal Slug Anthology for not much more than that. With Anthology, you get seven Metal Slug games.
