Sony PSP GPS attachment fails to impress

pspgps.JPG

Gamebrink got their hands on the GPS attachment for the Sony PSP, and in a nutshell, they were not particularly impressed, giving the accessory a score of just 40/100. That's pretty abysmal considering that the "Sony PSP GPS has a lot of potential."

At this time, most of the functionality is only good in Japan and just about nowhere else, so it's pretty much useless if you find yourself away from the land of the rising sun. What's more, the "official software support for the device so far is lacking severely", with the bulk of goodies coming by way of homebrew. It is there that you can use "MapThis!" for some rudimentary functionality, but even then, it's pretty disappointing.

Pros

* Works
* Looks sleek

Cons

* Expensive
* No software for outside Japan
* Homebrew option costs $9.99

It's not import friendly at all, either. For the full review (with a couple of vids), check out Gamebrink.com.

    Why would you rate a product that hasn't even been released in your area? Wait until it get's there and then complain about how it doesn't have support/maps for your area!

    This article makes no sense, giving a product a bad review when you have no use for it in the first place and I'm pretty sure Sony didn't plan on making it user friendly for the homebrew community since they have to sell their own software for it.
