Response to Mario Super Sluggers is Generally Positive

mariobaseball.jpg

Mario and the rest of the Nintendo mascots are no strangers to the diamond, having already played America's favorite pastime in Mario Superstar Baseball for the GameCube. Having made their way over to the controller-waggling Nintendo Wii, can Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser maintain their baseball success? Based on what the reviews are saying thus far, yes, they are doing just fine.

Nintendo teamed up with Namco to produce Mario Super Sluggers for the Wii, vastly expanding on the baseball game within Wii Sports. GameDaily gave it a 80/100, saying that the controls "work perfectly" and "several tutorials are able to help you out." Nintendo Power, giving the game 75/100, says that while there is some "confusing or clunky play", the simplified approach is "great for sports-curious gamers."

Echoing these sentiments are 1Up and IGN, which gave Mario Super Sluggers ratings of B and 74.100, respectively. They say that it's "plenty fun", but it's unfortunate that Nintendo "cut corners with Sluggers", not adding online play or any major gameplay renovations to the mix.The most negative review comes from Gameinformer, which gave it a 55/100. According to them, Wii baseball with Mario is "crap."
