Renegade Battles Onto Wii Virtual Console

renegade-vc-nes.jpg

Nostalgia is tearing at my heartstrings again. And I know that I'm probably looking at this game through rose-tinted glasses, because it's probably going to be a severe disappointment and a waste of 500 Wii Points if I do it.

Renegade, if I remember it correctly, was one of the coolest side-scrolling beat-em-ups on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. The mechanism and story were pretty standard. You'd walk around town, punching and kicking your way to greatness. You could grab the bad guys and hurl them into other bad guys. It was games like Renegade that made me fall in love with other titles like Double Dragon and Battletoads.

The action is going to be repetitive, but that's what NES era side-scrollers were all about.
