Punch-Out Updated for Wii

punchouthippo.jpg

Ever since I picked up the Nintendo Wii almost two years ago -- it's already been that long? -- and started playing Wii Sports: Boxing, I'm been yearning for the day when Nintendo would bring Punch-Out to its motion-sensing home console. Wii Sports: Boxing wasn't very accurate and, in the grand scheme of things, was a pretty big disappointment unless you are a three-year-old who loves swinging his arms in a mad scramble.

We've all wanted Punch-Out Wii for so long and now our prayers have finally been answered. Nintendo has officially announced that Punch-Out for the Wii will be launched some time during the first half of next year and you can check out one of the early screenshots above. The gameplay will probably be pretty similar to the original, except you'll have the chance to use waggle controls. As with Smash Bros and Mario Kart, though, I imagine that there could be an option for more traditional controls as well.

Oh, and if you forgot how to beat King Hippo, you have to wait until he opens his fat mouth and then you punch him in the face. His shorts drop and then you wail at his stomach. Repeat the process until he goes down.
