Previews: Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

Saying that Disgaea is a turn-based strategy RPG would be an injustice. Yes, as a game, that's exactly how it's played, but it is so much more. I've already written about it before, but it looks like we'll be getting a PSP version instead.

One of Disgaea's addicting gameplay elements was the powerleveling. Like any RPG, not only were you concerned about your levels, you also made sure that your characters had the right gear. The game took this to the next level by allowing you to actually go inside your gear and get its "residents", which were monsters that increased your stats. For example, the Gladiator resident increased the attack power of your melee weapons, so 300 Gladiators would increase a 1000-attack sword to 1300. The cap for Gladiators? Over 19000.

It's enough to make me want to get a PSP myself.
