Pre-Register For Free Guitar Hero III

Rock on!

Everyone got pretty excited about Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock this past holiday season and the game was pretty hard to find in stores, getting sold out pretty much across the board (with the exception of the PS2 version). Everyone loved playing songs by guys like Tenacious D and the Rolling Stones, but Wii owners got the short end of the stick. Their version of GH3 only had mono sound.

Activision got bombarded by so many complaints that they finally relented, promising that Wii owners would get a free "remastered" version of the game that would actually feature surround sound. The promise called for an early 2008 release of the game and, well, we're in early 2008 now. After getting bombarded by even more messages, Activision has set up a Q&A section on their site addressing this very issue. You can find it here.

The most important tidbit from the page reads:

Customers based in North America wanting to pre-register for a free replacement disc can call (866) 780-8286 from 8:00am-8:00pm EST, Monday-Friday, and we will notify you once the replacement discs are available.

Alternatively, you can notified via email "as the information on this page is updated" but you need to register with Activision first.
