Player Sells WoW Account For Almost $10,000

The subscription fee of World of Warcraft is about $15 USD, and that's after buying the retail boxes of WoW and its expansion, The Burning Crusade. Playing an MMO isn't cheap, but if the millions of players hooked on WoW are an indication, then it's safe to say that people are more than willing to pay for quality gaming.

And then there are those who are willing to pay even more. The emergence of MMOs has led to the rise of virtual economies where in-game gold and item sellers thrive. In this case, a WoW player sold his entire account to another player, an act that's forbidden in Blizzard's Terms of Service.

A Rogue character in World of Warcraft with arguably the best gear in the game right now has been sold for 7,000 Euro (approximately US $9,700). The avatar had both Legendary swords dropped by raid boss Illidan Stormrage, as well as 4/5 of a Tier 6 armor set.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with this. It was simply a case of someone selling and someone buying. Sure, it's a shortcut to the process, but if you've got the money, then why not, right? Unfortunately, there's no point in debating. After all, rules are rules and they got caught. I sincerely doubt that such a high-value transaction could've gone unnoticed.
