Patch 2.4 For World Of Warcraft Now Available

Blizzard has released patch 2.4 for World of Warcraft, opening up Sunwell Isle to all its subscribers. It was expected to be out last week, so apparently we didn't have to wait too long for the real thing. Thanks to the Public Test Realm, veteran WoW gamers know what to expect, but if you need help with the changes, Blizzard has updated the patch notes.

We're pleased to announce the release of "Fury of the Sunwell," the new content update for World of Warcraft!

Highlights of Fury of the Sunwell:

Sunwell Isle:

The glorious fount of arcane energy known as the Sunwell empowered the high elves for millennia, until the death knight Arthas laid siege to the elven kingdom and corrupted its sacred energies. Seeing no other alternative, a band of survivors led by Prince Kael'thas destroyed the ancient fount, and over time the surviving elves fell prey to a crippling magical withdrawal. Now, promising salvation for his people, Kael'thas has returned. Soon the Sunwell will shine once again, but whether the sacred fount will usher in deliverance or destruction remains to be seen.

The patch is dedicated to Dungeons & Dragons co-creator Gary Gygax, widely recognized as one of the men, if not the man, who pioneered role-playing games for the masses. Other notable things to watch for in this update is the inclusion of changes to the user interface, so expect your addons to malfunction until they become patch 2.4-compliant. Since you'll be doing some tweaking anyway, this might be a good time to trim those addons and get rid of the ones you don't need anymore.
