Nintendo Wii to get wireless nunchuk?

wireless-wii.jpg

I thought part of the point of a wireless controller was so that you'd avoid all of those nasty tangles associated with having a cable. Sure, I love my Wii and play with nearly every day (Wii Sports is still fun, even after all this time), but every time that I have to whip out the nunchuk attachment, I cringe just a little. Why have a wireless controller that requires, well, a wire?

Apparently my prayers (and those of countless other Wii owners) have been answered. You can keep this one in the unconfirmed rumor basket for the time being, but House of Nintendo is reporting (via Verdicts) that a wireless nunchuk attachment is in the works. No more messy tangles when playing Wii Sports: Boxing.

I'm assuming the easiest communication technique would be a small transmitter that connects to the bottom of a Wii Remote. You've got to wonder, though, wouldn't they need a wrist strap for the wireless nunchuk? Televisions around the world surely think so. And then there's the issue of batteries (the current nunchuk takes its draw from the connected Wii Remote).
