Nintendo: What's Old is New Again

kidicarusnew.jpg

Nintendo knows a thing or two about marketing itself and it knows a lot about building some stellar video game franchises. We're all too familiar with games like Mario Kart and Smash Bros, as well as the Legend of Zelda series and Metroid games featuring Samus Aran. Well, it seems that Nintendo isn't quite done with classic franchises on the Wii just yet.

Yeah, we're getting a new Wario game this week, but there's a much bigger surprise in store for us this Thursday when Nintendo makes a mundo announcement regarding the rebirth of an old franchise. A press conference has been scheduled for Thursday and while that could be for the new camera-touting DS, it could also be for a new Wii game. They say that this will a game featuring "an old franchise that everyone is waiting for."

I don't know about you, but most industry pundits are pointing toward Pit and Kid Icarus. He's already been featured in Smash Bros. Giving him his own game again is a natural fit.
