Nintendo Dominates All-Time DS Game Sale Chart

dssalegames.jpg

Nintendo has traditionally topped the sales charts for games on its own systems, so when these numbers got released by the NPD Group, it's not like they came out of left field. What you see above are the all-time top-selling games for the Nintendo DS and, as you'd expect, all of the top five consist of games published by Nintendo itself.

Sitting at the top of the list is the retro-inspired New Super Mario Bros, selling 4.5 million units worldwide. Mario Kart DS power drifts into second place with 3.5 million units sold. Rounding out the top five are Pokemon Diamond Version, Super Mario 64 DS, and Brain Age. I find the inclusion of Super Mario 64 DS kind of surprising, because I didn't think it was all that popular. I didn't like the controls myself.

In similar fashion, the NPD Group also got the sales numbers for the top 5 best selling PSP games of all time. They are GTA: Liberty City Stories (2M), Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (1.1M), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (1.1M), GTA: Vice City Stories (950k), and Star Wars: Battlefront II (809k).
