Lara Croft Is Back With Tomb Raider: Underworld

tombraiderunderworld.jpg

Lara Croft is taking a page out of Kate Beckinsale and is coming up with her own game about vampires. Well, not really, but the subtitle reminded me of the movie. Our favorite female adventurer is going to come out with a new game called Tomb Raider: Underworld.

This past February, Eidos officially titled Tomb Raider: Underworld, the new installment in the series, but it gave no release date for the game. That changed this weekend, when financially strapped Eidos parent SCi Interactive launched a new Web portal for the game at the long-held URL Tombraider.com. The site's new splash page now clearly states that the game will ship for the PC, Nintendo DS, Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 2 in "November 2008."

The past two games, Anniversary and Legend, featured fun gameplay. Lara moves the way an adventurer should move: she's agile, mobile and really gave the series a much-needed boost after the fiasco that was Angel of Darkness. So what path is Underworld going to take? Whatever it is, I just hope it's the right one.
