How To Save Money Playing Video Games

gameforcheap.jpg

Video games can prove to be a very expensive hobby, especially if you find yourself owning all three of the major home consoles as well as the two big portable machines. You find yourself compelled to buy all the newest games and you can't live without all the latest accessories. Maybe you're one of the people that nabbed a new PS3, bought Guitar Hero III, found out that the GH guitar doesn't work with your new Rock Band, and you are now even more frustrated with the likely lack of compatibility with Guitar Hero: World Tour.

And that's just the rhythm game genre. Wii owners are just as prone to this phenomenon, investing in everything from Wii Zappers to Wii Wheels. It can get very expensive, very quickly. Thankfully, our good friend at Sarcastic Gamer has compiled a list of 10 tips for cheap gaming.

1. Wait a month or two before buying a new game.
2. Don’t buy new where possible.
3. Shop around, especially online.
4. Exploit eBay for all it is worth.
5. Don’t keep games you will never play again.
6. Trade games with friends and community members.
7. Learn to love retro.
8. Considering renting instead of buying.
9. Play what you already have.
10. Take care of your games to protect resale value.
