Hammer Bros. Confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I hope you all had a great Canada Day yesterday! Now, on with the news...

The single greatest title that I really, really want to play on the Nintendo Wii is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I love the possibility of pitting Solid Snake against Wario, and it's great that the official Smash Bros. blog is giving us all sorts of juicy morsels to consume while we wait for the actual game to get released.

The latest news coming out of that blog is the confirmation of three new characters. These characters, unfortunately, won't be user-selectable, but will rather be used as "assist trophies" that you can deploy while you smack around your fellow Nintendo avatars. The three "items" are a Nintendog (from Nintendogs, of course), the Hammer Bros. (of Super Mario Bros. fame), and Samurai Goro (of F-Zero).
