Guitar Hero III Heading to PC and Mac

The irony of it all is that Guitar Hero isn't even that novel of a concept. Before Guitar Hero even existed, Konami -- through its Bemani branch -- had an arcade rocking franchise known as Guitar Freaks. It was accompanied by games like Drum Mania. Sure, the Harmonix take on the matter added a couple of buttons and a whammy bar, but the concept was the same. That's why it's so amazing how popular Guitar Hero has gotten, especially after GH II was ported to the Xbox 360.

And the porting continues. We already know that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is bound for the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS, as well as the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. And now they're bringing the game to your computer. It has been announced that Guitar Hero 3 is getting ported to both Windows-based PCs and Macs. Aspyr Media will be handling both ports.

The computer versions will still carry a "robust online multiplayer mode" and I'd imagine another guitar peripheral (USB?) would be necessary as well.
