Final Fantasy XIII Boss Fight Gameplay

Demo videos of Final Fantasy III are old news, but what was significant about last week's updates was that some of them featured actual gameplay, giving us a rare (these days, at least) look at what to expect from the latest iteration of the series.

My biggest question was always about the graphics. Square Enix has been flooding us with great preview images, but those on the side of caution such as myself wonder whether we're looking at an in-game movie or actual gameplay footage. This demo proves that the graphics of FFXIII are pretty solid.

The game's UI is minimalistic yet flashy, displaying only a few bars that animate in a futuristic sort of way. It certainly suits the battle's backdrop. Since I can't read Japanese, I can't tell what the bars mean, but I did notice that the central character took a step back before healing himself. It's a nice touch, actually.
