Everyone Loves Metroid Prime 3

metroidprime3.jpg

When the Nintendo Wii was first launched last November, many purists scoffed at the mini-games and the traditional kiddie-like nature of Nintendo's offering. They saw cutesy titles like Wii Sports and said that the the motion-sensing was little more than a gimmick and no serious gamer would ever take the system seriously. And then the floodgates open, raining violence and complexity into the land. The Godfather: Blackhand Edition has been pretty awesome, but everyone is much more interested in the adventures of one Samus Aran.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is the latest addition to the legendary Metroid series, this time taking us into a Wii Remote-waggling world filled with nasty aliens and cool in-helmet displays. This highly anticipated first-person shooter couldn't possibly live up to the hype, could it? Based on these initial reviews, yes it has and yes, it is totally awesome.

Nintendo Power says it's perfect, giving it 100/100. IGN loves the responsive and precise controls, sending out a rating of 95/100. Game Informer says it's the best Prime to date, offering a score of 95/100. 1UP says MP3:C maximizes the Wii's greatest strength (motion controls) while minimizing its greatest weakness (weak graphics), awarding a tally of 90/100. The worst score out there was from GameSpot, which still gave 85/100. The key fault cited was lack of multiplayer.
