El Mario Sells Burritos and Beer

mexicanmario.jpg

Everyone's favorite Italian plumber got his start in Japan before crossing the pond into the United States and across the continent to Europe. Little did we know that he had been hiding his Hispanic cousin from us this whole time.

Shown above is a sign from a restaurant in Acapulco, Mexico. This is an obvious rip-off of Nintendo's best known character, but the Mexican version goes by the name of Pancho Bigotes. Instead of loading up on magic mushrooms and stomping on goombas, our friend from south of the border prefers to sell plates full of meat and steins full of beer.

Italian-Mexican fusion cuisine. Princess Peach not included.
