Disney's Ultimate Answer to Rock Band

ultimateband-disney.jpg

Guitar Hero and Rock Band really have taken the video game industry by storm. People are totally digging the rhythm game genre, but Wii and DS owners have not yet had a chance to enjoy the multiplayer experience of Rock Band. EA's group game for the Wii is still a little off in the horizon, so Disney Interactive Studios is stepping in with an "ultimate" solution.

Disney Ultimate Band will be the "only all-inclusive music video game experience for all ages." Set for release on both the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS, what makes Ultimate Band different than the Harmonix-developed title is that there are no peripherals involved. Disney did not reveal any details as to how the game would then be played, but because you don't have to buy a couple of guitars, a mic, and a drum set, the cost involved in playing Ultimate Band should be less than Rock Band.

Just like Rock Band, however, you get to enjoy some crazy four-player action. There's the guitar, bass, drums, and even vocals. Seeing how the Wii Remote doesn't have a microphone, I'm not really sure how Ultimate Band is going to take care of singing, but you can feel pretty confident about the inclusion of some Disney hits from shows like Hannah Montana. Not quite Metallica, I'd say.
