It's understandable that Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all interested in having exclusive titles on their respective consoles. Having a killer title exclusively available on just one system can do a lot to bolster the popularity of that system. Nintendo has its share of games like Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Microsoft gets in on the action with the Halo franchise. Sony is the only place where you'll find Resistance: Fall of Man, and so on.
Despite these inclinations, Capcom doesn't want to play along, because it just doesn't make good business sense for the third-party developer. Capcom is apparently tired of these console exclusive agreements so it has pledged to be multi-platform from here on out. What this means is that when a game like Street Fighter IV is developed, it won't be only available on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3; it will be available on multiple platforms.
How does this bode for owners of the Nintendo Wii? It's hard to say whether Capcom considers the Wii in the same "major console" league as the X360 and PS3, because the graphical prowess and user interface is so different. Should Capcom include the Wii in this mix, should we be expecting Devil May Cry, Street Fighter, and Bionic Commando games with motion-sensing controls?
