Batman: Arkham Asylum Announced

batmanclock.jpg

When The Dark Knight was released, a lot of people noted the lack of a game tie-in to the movie. Heck, even I noticed that. Gamers are used to the obligatory cash-in title by now, but for some reason, that pattern was broken with the latest Batman film. What gives?

Well, it's a mystery that's not going to stump us any longer. We're going to get a Batman game, but it doesn't seem to be related to the movie. Entitled Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is going to be fighting in the infamous facility for the criminally mental.

The "gritty" actioner sees Batman battling through the infamous nuthouse's gauntlet of supervillains. Typical storyline fodder really, but hearing that the game is to be co-written by Paul Dini (Detective Comics, Batman: The Animated Series) should be enough to excite fans of the Dark Knight.

The official website isn't live yet, so make a note to check back after two days. I just hope it's better than the video game version of Batman Begins.
