Another DS-Wii Connection Revealed?

wiichannel.jpg

When Nintendo decided to link the GameCube with the Game Boy Advance, it was met with a mixed reaction. This isn't so much because of the concept of connecting a handheld gaming machine with a home console as much as it is about how the connection was done and how well the game developers were able to make use of the technology. With the arrival of the DS and the Wii, Nintendo had similar ambitions.

By and large, the connection between the DS and the Wii has been lacking, but that could be changing very soon. IGN let it leak that there is "a Wii Channel already in the works that would output DS's audio from your TV speakers." We know that the new DSi has a built-in MP3 player, so you could effectively stream your music from your handheld to your home theatre. That's pretty sweet.

IGN could be referring to the Speaker Channel on the Band Brothers DX, but I don't see why this functionality couldn't expand into some Guitar Hero-esque rhythm games and all sorts of other cool stuff. The PSP has TV-out... could the DSi have wireless TV-out?
